alternative alternator?

is there another alternator that would be cheaper for a 1988 ranger 2.9? if not is there another with a higher output for the same 45 that it will cost for a reman alt from autozone?

It depends where your adjusting ear is. If it's a 12 o'clock, then the one for my 89 Mustang 5.0 looks like it will work. It's a 75 amp (vs. 65 amp) and 10 bucks less here. Autozone lists 3 different alternators though......

If yours is the DLG7748-2, then the DLG7748-10 should work.

i bought my last alternator at pull a part for $13 (with warranty added, so if it didn't work i swapped it for another one).. but i got lucky and it worked..

Good call 4.0B2, great suggestion. Just take that list with you and pull one of them.

for $13 i think i could afford to swap it out a couple times if it didn't work. but that was about a year ago and it still works.. so even if it quits now, i can't complain..

problem has been solved. took my old one in and had it tested and it was fine. i bought another new battery
