Restoring the old Eight Nine Stang

I know what you mean. My mufflers are seriously 1/2 inch from the subframe. I have looked for something smaller that sounds similar to my Mac Flowpaths (a little throatier than a Flowmaster) but can't quite find it. The closest I can find are the Pypes M80's.

I've even checked into the full-on racing mufflers for dirt-track cars, to see what's out there that's small. I might even add the tailpipes if I can find something suitable.

Oh, so you're talking about doing dumps then?

So how's about a close up of those clears?

I'll have to go over and get some better pics than these. I took them a few days ago with my phone. They aren't exactly close ups though.

You can see a touch of orange in them, but it's the bulbs.

Clears-on-white is real nice! My headlights developed that moisture issue due to bad sealing between the lens and the reflective bucket. Needless to say, the reflective don't reflect so good no more! Fixed the leak, and plan to check with a local shop to see if they can "re-chrome" plastic parts.

All this Mustang talk has me more into keeping it.........

No, but I think in the Speedway Motors catalog they show some mufflers that are very small dimensionally....about the diameter of Cherry Bombs, but only about half as long.

Those are exactly the kind of pics I meant, that looks fan-friggin tastic, mate.

Without that touch of orange, the cops'll pull you over. When i had clears on mine I never got stopped, but I did have to swap them to get through inspection.

Car's looking great. Man, I've gotta stop reading this thread, I'm starting to like foxbodies.

The State Inspection is a double-edged sword for me. I lived in Texas, where they have it, and once a year had to put the stock steering wheel back on whatever I was driving at the time. Here in Iowa, they don't have it.....so no wheel worries, but there's sure a lot of junk on the road that wouldn't pass if there were one.

Eh, I rather prefer it. Sure this year I had to pull the bed off my truck and install a $120 part.

But it keeps the uh... "less desirables" off the roads and stuck in their own neighborhoods. So as long as I live far enough away they're stuck robbing each other and I don't have to worry quite so much about my garage door opening itself and my tool collection walking away.

Oh, I wish they had it here. Keep some of the rustaceans off the road, and boost the state's cash inflow as well!

Hope this works...here's my 'stang:

That pic is AWESOME. Looks like you have a pink roof rack.

:icon_rofl: That's my other half's old 1985 Jeep Cherokee in the background (since replaced with a 2000 Cherokee). It was.......HER choice, not mine.......Barney Purple, to match a coat she has. I don't ask, I just paint....it's quieter that way!

I hear ya. I never was the quiet type...which is why I'm recently single. :icon_rofl:

Nice to hear! I've owned three of them and they are fun cars.

Is it the Pypes M80's? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PYE-MVR200S

Thank you, I really like them too (at the moment). For me though, the verdict is still out. I need to drive it for a while before I decide how much I like them, LOL. Speaking of cops, I've already got a ticket once for no front plate on it, and I'll crap if they expect me to put one on it now. Most cops around here will cut a car some slack if it has been redone though. Oh, and once you've been bitten by the Fox bug, it's hard to turn away.

Hope this works...here's my 'stang: (Sorry it's such a small pic)

I like your car! The lights look sweet on it.

Just checked the link out; those seem to be what I'm looking for. If memory serves, that's the same company (Pypes) that made my X-pipe.

Even though it doesn't show in the pic, the aftermarket driving lights are kind of a blue color....but they were cheap at WalMart, and they fit well.

I've got a decent set of AutoMeter gauges for it, just haven't had the time to install them. Not going with a monster tach, though....just a shift light.
