well il assume that yall put er in right. they have a guess on the milage on it when you guys got it?

course even a seemingly good pick can crap out when the fates decide a year is a decent run if the price wasnt bad

i paid $350 for the tranny it was out of an 88 b2 , miles idk .. for shit and giggles im on try having it flushed and it that doesnt work back to the drawing board . anybody got a a4ld for sale lol

Why not convert to a manual transmission?

dont be scared to go thru an auto trans... there really is nothing to it. get a good break down of it and go for it.. i've been thru the a4ld several times.

and if the 2 are doing the same thing....---- did you change everything? torque convertor? vss? everything?

While you make a good point, it's not uncommon for the A4LD to lose either reverse, or all forward gears. Also, the TC wouldn't make it only go backwards. The direct clutch has probably become somewhat indirect.

well i don't know what it could be.. just wondering if something wasn't changed or... whatever idk. lol, i'm not good at transmissions. but i do know there wasn't much inside the a4ld, its an easy trans to go thru

Thats a shame... Personally, I'm not looking forward to my auto biting the dust one day. Mainly because of getting around the H Pipe or taking it down.....I know, I know, of all things, its stupid to be worried about that. But hey, I'll handle that when I get to it.

If you aren't interested in a manual (IMHO, the best bet - Though I do think an auto can be perfectly reliable too) You can spend much more money and get a new HD AL4D from someplace like advance auto. If I don't have time to find and purchase all items for a manual swap, I would definitely do this if I could afford it.

i changed to tc . when i put the b2 tranny in . the vss i have no idea wat that stand for sry .. um i just started it a few seconds ago it went into gear but not for long . i know it sounds dumb but it felt like i was spinning the tires not really moving .. high rpms like around 2grand i wanna say .. as for a manual tranny i dont trust myself to drive one , i can but sometimes forget to push in the clutch lmao . could puttin to much fluid in cause this ?

vss= vehicle speed sensor, in the t-case or tailshaft of tranny. shouldn't be your problem tho..

thanks . i got alot to learn lol .. im gonna see wat the shop tell me . ill keep u all informed . where the direct clutch is located
