Anyone mount a winch in truck bed?

they're real handy to have there.

yeah uh Gwaii sorta goes big eh

i think a ATV winch would work well for a sled. its small enough that i think maybe hooking it to a steel plate on the bed floor thats bolted on in a way to distribute the weight it will be pulling.

do you think the sled would have room up front to tuck the winch up under the front?

Lol...I don't think having a winch mounted anywhere will help you park any better!!!!

I do remember a wench in the bed once but that is a long time ago.

I would mount a winch on top of a tool box or bracket. Maybe mount a ball hitch up there somewhere so the winch isnt permanent, I can think of alot better places you would need a winch, If you have a rea bumper mounted winch with a properly placed set of rollers(fairlead?) then all you would need is a pulley at the front of the bed. Theres all kinds of places to mount one, it just depends on your imagination.

Definitely wouldn't mount it on a toolbox, the lid on those things are no where near strong enough for that, it would bend and tweak it, and eventually break it. You'd be better off making a separate bracket that is stronger.

Why not just drive the snowmobile into the truck on ramps :icon_confused:

see them regularly up here. they use them to help load 4 wheelers and snowmobiles, also garden tractors and riding mowers. kinda handy.
yeah, you could just drive it right into the bed... unless it's broken.

this is an excellent point, plus the fact that after driving such machines up the ramp,it can sometimes be hard to stop them before hitting the end of the box.

i found mine to be especially usefull when loading large heavy items such as engines or diffs into the back of the truck.just set up a plank as a ramp, and drag it up.
