Well, the wife's 2001 Focus has become unreliable after 300,000k. It will be missed as it has been trouble free for nearly 10 years. We live out in the boonies and with 200k driven daily we need a something new before winter. We have 2 young boys, but are unsure if we want a Focus or a Fusion. The Fusion would have to be a 2.3 I4. The boss wants the Focus, but I like the Fusion. I would pretty much never be driving either. Here is the Focus we are going to look at today:

Both are nice cars. I would say go with the Focus for 1 reason. The fusion will never match it for fuel.

That, and a 2nd reason: Get the boss what she wants, if she's happy, then you're happy :icon_twisted:

I would go with the Fusion, your kids won't be getting any smaller and eventually you will probably need a bigger car anyway.

But if momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy... :icon_thumby:

Well, larger was my thinking/reasoning. I am 270lbs and both of my young lads are bigger than most, so I was thinking that a larger car would be better. I have a hard time fitting in the Focus when all of us go somewhere. My brother in law just got a 2010 Focus and he has mentioned that the interior has got larger and has improved. Right now both knees touch the dash when all four of us go somewhere.

I didnt notice THAT much difference between the two inside. Sure, the Fusion is bigger, but my knees still hit the dash.

I am never going to drive it, so I should just let her get the Focus.

My girlfriend has a 2010 Focus, and at 6' 4" I have no problem fitting in it. It's a good little car and I've even pulled 39 MPG with it.

Yeah, I fit just fine by myself, but put a 4 year old turkey in a car seat behind you and my seat has to go waay forward or he cant move his legs. The wife has no problems with both kids, but its my beer drinking self that is the problem.

So shove sonny and bono in the back of the Ranger. I rode back there from the time I was 2 until I was 13 (when I was then taller than mom and she had to ride in the back seat).

Man, I can remember as a kid sprawled out under the rear window of my folks Chevy. We would go all over town like that. It was normal back then and i'm only 34.

sigh..... Looks like it will be a 2011 Corolla. I have no testicles left.

ouch. Sorry man. My lady drives a camry, I hate that thing, it's great on gas but man it's a POS her dad drives one too and he swears by it. Poor poor man.....

so there's gonna be an 01 focus build thread coming? i vote 460, 40's and d60's f/r....wait those things are pretty small, better make it a 351

302 stroked to 318 might fit better. I've seen 302's in Focui, it is tight.
