No Seriously, Thank you. My 00 4X4 that I just picked up had a failed wheel bearing (pads toast, rotor just about gone, caliper bracket chewed into) and i was DEATHLY afraid after finding this how bad it would be (Had a taurus, paid $250 for the bearing and had to have a shop press it in so I had to tear off the knuckle etc)

Found a new one on Ebay for the Non-Vac assist *again, thank you ford* for $60 shipped, Pulled out the old one gently with a prybar, and tossed the new one on in probably under an hour... I have NEVER had such an easy wheel bearing replacement on any vehicle I've ever owned!

My 98 was a 2wd and I replaced 'everything' suspension wise while I did the motor swap, but WOW did I not know the 4X4's were still this easy to service!

Yeah, those are nice to replace. The disadvantage to them is that they fail predictably every 75K or so, and can be expensive if you get a Ford one.

or any of them...the masterpro house brand from orilley cost me 135 a pop and the timkens run like 250 a hub

My 1996 Ranger 2wd wheel bearings were pretty easy. Just had to get the bearing racers pressed in.

They are the same as about everything that ISN'T a unit bearing. My 1940's tractors are pretty much the same theory as my Ranger.

Wheel bearings are gravey money on just about everything. :icon_thumby:

86-06 taurus, or anything based on it (Windstar, Freestar, sable, etc) Are a nightmare...

I said just about.

I know the rear on a '02 Explorer isn't all that fun...

The Focus is brutal too. Front and rear. I would rather get a dental work done
