PlumCrazy's Build

Plumcrazy what u-bolts did you use to replace the straps on the front pinion? I need to do the same thing, just wondering what you picked up.

They are made by Dorman or Motormite and can be found in the Help section at any Advance Auto. I have a few sets of them for spares. I can get a 1/2 wrench on it and get a 3/4 of a turn unlike the factort 10mm/torx bolts that you cant get wrench on then the torx strips of the bolt breaks off. I went ahead and drilled the holes out before I broke a bolt off in one, just so I wouldnt have to deal with it later. (I learned my lesson when I snapped a bolt off in my 3.73 yoke and had to drill the bastard).

I finished putting in the seats and gave them a good cleaning. I love the lumbar support. IMO these are a major improvement over stock Gen III seats. My back feels better and I have only had them in for 2 days.lol They really dont match, but the comfort out weighs the looks. The red seats are kind of growing on me, but I would still trade for blue or black in heart beat.

Those seats are really sick. Do you sit with the seat that far forward lol?

Im pretty sure that lid was good, I know the arm rest looked mint laying in the backseat. Do you need that bracket for the hinge on the armrest too?

Well it turns out the armrest was FUBAR. I grabbed the console lid though, and the armrest, but the only good part was the cover.

And I ran across these at JY. I picked up set a while back, but they were in rough shape, so I held off on them.

These ones are MINT. Im not even sure what was special about the truck they were on. They were on a single cab long bed (Gen II) 4x4 2.9 auto w. a 1350 manual case, D28 w/ factory manual lockouts. It looked pretty much like an XL. IIRC it had and open 3.73 7.5 too.

Are you going to post up a DIY on the syncro and bearing replacement in your tranny? A write up on the 2.5 swap would be awesome as well...

I may. I have decent camara now. I also have a full rebuild kit, a M50D rebiuld manual, and a 4x4 M50d R1HD:D.

I got my 4.10 ring gear bolted on the open carrier with red loctite and I got all the new bearings pressed on and ready to go. Heres a pic with the locker sitting in it.

Hopefully I will have time to get them in before I head back to school.

I picked this up today at the JY.

Yea. Thats an HD. I pulled the top cover off, and from what I can tell its the same internals as any 4.0 M50D. I counted teeth on the input shaft and its the same tooth count as my old 4.0 input. I dont really need the HD case, but I needed a good low mileage 4x4 mainshaft for my rebuild, and it just so happened to be from an HD. I will probably rebuild it with lower gears that way I can just swap out my noisy trans with little down time and not have rebuild my only trans. I will probably stick the HD guts back into my old 4.0 case if so anybody needs a 4x4 4.0 tranny. Ill have one soon. I still need to find some low mileage internals from a 2.3/2.5/3.0 tranny though.
