There should be a spout connector by the distributor (its a plastic little plug with two wires going to it) unplug it and loosen the dist. hold down and set your timing with the light. Alot of mustang guys run as much as 14* of timing and that is fine as long as it doesnt ping but, if you are just using it as a every day driver I would run it about 10*. So if you get some cheap or bad gas you wont have to worrie about it pinging.
Thank, I didn't remeber seeing any thing with degrees on it.
I went out and looked at it, and it has a tab that is bolted to the pas. side with like flat/arrow and lower a tab with 1/4" hole, and on the balancer a 1/16" groove .
There should be a mark on the balancer. It can be hard to find, but once you do, paint the 0 and 10 deg lines (liquid paper works well...) so you can see them with the engine running.
Pull the plug on cylinder one, then find top dead center. You have a fifty-fifty chance of getting right, the balancer should be close.
Thanks Teddy for the tip on liquid paper, worked like a champ. Got it set at
12*. The injector cleaner must be kicking in,idle jump from about 6-700 to about 1500. had to turn it back down . Found out the factory air cleaner with fresh air snorkle would work just fine.
