Wish I had a 97

I wish so much that I had a 97 xlt 4.0 5 speed straight sided 4x4 ranger. Soooooooo many more aftermarket options for cheaper and a lot more get up and go. I would already have the best looking ranger in my county if the aftermarket for a 98 3.0 flairside wasn't so damn expensive and so hard to find used.

Is it you want a Gen III for the sake of having one instead of your Gen IV or is it you think that's the best option for you? The Gen IV has the same drivetrain options as the Gen III.

Alot of IFS after market mods are about as avail as the dodo. When I talked to duff they only sell up to the 97 rangers any lift material at all. The IFS is just not a money maker I guess.

Basically the reason I wish I had a 97 or below is because the lifts aren't $1,500 for a low quality 4 incher. And flairsides are really hard to find used toolboxes for, everything for those beds have to be custom made like roll bars and such or there threw the roof on pricing. And the 3.0 lacks engine mods and if you do find something it's something major for a power upgrade (like a 302 swap lol).

Not really. Ford considers it a SEMI-INDEPENDENT suspension. It's stronger than a true independent setup but rides a lot better than a solid.

Ford also calls a alternator a generator, their terminalogy doesn't always make sense.

When one wheel moves independantly of the other = independant suspesnion.

IMO they don't really perform much if any better than a solid for anything aside from high speed racing either, they both ride and handle like a sterotypical truck. TTB is a compromise, a 4x4 wouldn't work with the ideal geometry... which is why a TIB is completely incompatable and rides and handles better than TTB truck. They still use TIB in the E/F-250/350's, but what crawled back under the 4x4's? A solid front axle.
