Hello all, I recently got an 84 ranger w/ 5.0L EFI out of a 87 grand marquis for a mud truck. The guy I got it from used the Grand Marquis harness. I am getting no charge back to the battery. I don't know if he wired the alt. up right. There is volts coming up to the Alt. from the battery. The two black w/ orange strip wires are coming off the harness, but one goes to the starter relay and the other goes inside to power a fuse box he wired in for the ign. and other acc. My question is does anybody know if the both black and orange wires need to both go the starter relay. Using Alldate at the shop I work at for the diagrams. Any help would be helpful and greatly appreciated as I would love to go play this weekend at Luster's Longhorn Mud Ranch in Ramsey, IL. Sorry for the long post. Thank you

Both Black/org wires should go to the battery side of the starter solenoid and then there should be a green/red wire that should be connected to the green/red wire from the truck. That should be all that you need to make it work.

Thank you, where does the other green and red wire come from? the dash is completely stripped in mine. I am going to wire both the battery side of the relay tomorrow. what does the red and green wire do? Alldata say battery light

link did work, the red/green wire comes off the voltage reg, and goes in the loom to a connector. then goes? if i hook up both black/orange to the batt side of the relay, shouldn't that work, or does the red/green send a signal to turn in on. thank you

The Green with red stripe goes to the dash alt. light or gauge. So all of the stock dash wiring has been stripped out and replaced? The voltage regulator is built into the alt. on the 2G alt's. you can wire the alt. light by running a key hot to one side of the light and the other side should go to the Green/red wire to the alt.

Lets try this.
