Power chips?!?!

Does anyone have one of these $69 chips im seein for my Ranger? Says it"ll boost Hp or MPG depending in setting. Wondering if these are worth the $. Sounds to me to kick booty but if they dont work or damage vehicle that would suck. Any input would be cool

it depends on wich one it is. if it tunes the computer its probably worth it, but if it is just a resistor you hard wire in then avoid it like a honda(aka the plague)
 
NO. Don't get it. I don't even have to know what company is selling it to let you know it is a scam. The company themselves, which is probably just some dude that made up a webpage, is selling you a resistor in a fancy box, or something even more retarded. There's no reason and no advantage to "chipping" a vehicle unless it has other mods done to it that require a change in the computer to run properly. Some cars do respond to chipping, but they are mostly turbocharged with factory variable electronic boost control, like a superduty or a turbo golf.
 
For that cheap... it is a hoax.
 
I'd aggree with 85Ranger. However there are companies like superchips or Diablo sport that make a great handheld programmer. Without Hard mods like head work or free flowing exhaust, HP increases may be limited (10-15). As you continue to modify your rig, you can download a new "tune" to take advantage of the increased airflow.
