How much problem would it be to put a 2004 3.0 liter engine in a 94 ranger with a 3.0 liter engine. I know the computers are different. Will the later computer mate up to the 94, or am I buying more problems than I want?

Is it possible to put that engine in and mate it to the 94 electronics? Head and intake swap?

All this cause I had an A4ld which is shot (2 total rebuilds, one seal replacement and now shot with 211,XXX miles). Looks like a conversion to 5 spd.

im having a hard time imagining why you want to swap your motor to gain a 5 speed trans? any 5 speed from any year 3.0 will bolt to your current motor.

if you feel you need the newer motor, your best bet is to keep all your current electronics (the long blocks are the same).

Shit, I hate when I agree with sludge.....

Well, that is where I thought I'd end up. The motor has 211,XXX miles on it, runs fine and has good compression. So, I considered the long block with the existing ODB1 electronics on it (heads and intake) if I were to replace it. I've about given up finding a 5 spd locally, with all the stuff to convert.

If I go that way are there any other issues? (other than clutch pedals hydraulic piping and master cylinder)?

Is my computer compatible with the manual transmission?
