Quick Opinions on the Brake Power Booster..

Hey,

I have a 1999 Ranger 4.0l supercab and the pedal sinks to the floor. It is still very firm and when pumped, there is no air in the master cylinder. Also, I only get one use of the power brakes after the truck has been turned off. The usual is 3 pumps.

I am pretty sure, I just wanted a second opinion and to introduce myself to this section of the forum.

Sounds like a bad master cylinder to me. It will firm up when you pump it, but if you rest your foot on it it will sink to the floor. The booster is just an assist, and wont have any affect on if the pedal sinks to the floor.

Sometimes when the rear piston seal goes bad, there will be no fluid leak or mysteriously vanishing fluid. It just stays in the maaster cylinder.

the pedal is still firm.. just goes farther than it should. it doesn't sink while there is pressure on it.. also, an internal leak will usually show air bubbles which there are none..

Well after being a total tard, I found out the problem.. The automatic adjuster on the emergency brake is broke.. So the back brakes weren't getting adjusted.. I put the parking brake brake on and put it in drive and it took off.. I'm glad I didn't jump out of the truck.. lol
