My idea of a Shelby Ranger if there would have been one.

Yep 275-40/17 or 18 fit real good on a 10.5 rim. Teddyzee is running some 315's in back I believe. Just remember, too much traction and you start breaking stuff, finding the other weak link. I just have to go back and see the rest of this build.

275s fit real well on the 10.5s.. I think I will take Shorangerbird's advice on the 9s and go with a 245-45 or 40- 17 when I can afford em... 315s seem way too big...

no, i wouldnt try to fit that on a 10.5, but as i said i run 245/45/17 on my 9" with no problem, and i did have 255/45/17 on there, but they were ballooned a bit and wanted to ride up on the water in the rain, so i went back down a size.

I wonder if the 255/40/17 is narrower than a 245/45/17? Are you running the 245/45s on a lowered Ranger? Or since the back is 40s should I run 40s on the front?

255s are wider than 245s. bigger the number, wider they are. the 40 or 45 is the height. 40s are shorter sidewall than 45s. mine is not lowered., except for the factory thing on GTs. i had no interference with either size on mine......

Guy at tire store said both numbers determine a bit of the height... I have no clue but I am going to go 245-40s if i can find them... You been round my neck of the woods latley?

The first number is the section width of the tires, represented in millimeters. The second number is the "Aspect Ratio" telling you the sidewall of the tire as a percent of the section width. The last number is the rim size.

Take for example a 235/75-R15 tire. The 235 represent the tire's width in millimeters. The "aspect ratio" of the tire is 75, meaning I take 235 and multiply it by .75. This gives me a sidewall height of 176.25 mm. The R shows the tire is a radial tire as opposed to bias-ply. The 15 is the rims size in the standard format of inches. The total height of the tires is the two sidewalls (176.25+176.25) plus the height of the rim (15" is 381 mm). Therefore 381+176.25^2 = 733.5 mm or 28.9 inches.

Remember the second number isn't the sidewall height per se, but merely how much of the total width the sidewall is tall. That's how tires sizes work.

I have one suggestion, and it's only a suggestion, your truck looks great, and is something I can only dream about, but I think it would really help if you ditch the flag mirrors, and get a set of the Cobra bullit type mirrors and black them out.

I have tried several types of mirrors over the years and these or the truck type are the only ones that allow good veiw out of them... the Cobra ones would be cool but too expensive to risk not working right... Plus the doors are done.. changing them out may require modding on the door... Great idea though...

Great idea.. just too expensive.. plus I will be pulling my boat and future projects with the truck so I need the mirrors to be as funtional as possible... the angle of the doors make it near impossible to get mirrors that can be set perfect...
