RaceRangers Build

I just took a quick browse through the whole thread and couldn't find any pictures of what you ended up doing with the roll cage inside the cab near the back wall? Got any pictures? Also what size tubing did you use for the cage and rear bed cage.

Not much right now, until I get a welder the options are limited. I have plans on welding up the frame and then building a tube cage for the bed and putting a cage inside, some of the trails on my hill are on a steep angle so that would probably be a good idea. I was checking out the fenders and the wheels on the front are too close to the cab to cut, so I'll definately have to lift it if I ever want to put something bigger than 235's on it.

Very cool, sounds like it will be a fun toy.

Should have updates soon, next Monday the motor should be going in and the new rad arms as well. Then its into the shop for a lot of tube work.

FINALLY dusted off the cob webs and am getting started again.

Idk about being an "in" person lol but he gave me a few when I met him at the night race so I couldn't help but put one on the ranger. My truck will be done and in pismo june 18-20 for the "huckfest"

I am sending it to another shop on the 22nd to finish up the tube work in the rear. Also have to finish the interior cage, finish 9 inch, put the new rad arms on, put 2.5 18" SAWs in the back, revalve the front SAWs, and clean up a few things before then so I got alot of work to do lol

Are you putting in the 4L also? If so that thing will fly at Pismo.

noooooo :annoyed: I was suposed to start the swap wed. But my friend that gave me the motor bought another truck with a blown 4.0 and he stole it back from me. :bawling:

so now im looking for a motor once again.. depending how bad the motor is that is pulled out of that other ranger, I may try to swoop on that.

what are you gonna do with the fox's in the rear.

trying to sell them actually for $300..also have 2 10" saw threaded bodies for sale as well $500

Well thats a real shame. The Ranger would have hauled ass with it in. Have you considered to rebuild your 2.3 and put a turbo on it?

A true prerunner is all about being light, especially in the front to get it up in the air...after you are getting multiple air shots in the 97.

yeah the ranger does like to jump lol My friend has a 2.3 turbo motor in his ranger and it is extremely fast..but I think I want to have the ability to drive it on the street every once and a while, we'll see what motor i can find...I am very tempted to just put a carbed 302 in it and add more dampening.

I got to be a part of a race team over the last few months (partially why my build has slowed) and the race truck was a standard cab Silverado on beams and links with a 350 in it and it was more than enough to get you into trouble. After driving i, I really wanted that kind of power in my ranger.

Now that's what I call strong radius arms. I am sure I ask this, but I don't recall. Are you doing anykind of 3 or 4 link setup in the rear to run rear coilovers?

most likely next summer I will if the truck still rolls..for now I am gunna try and race MDR 1500 class on the leafs

PROGRESS:

got some 2.5 18" SAWS for the rear.
