How to take off Ranger badges?

JD, get the badges off? What worked the best?

Do not use a screw driver. You will scratch the paint. You can run fishing line or some string behind the badge and will come off. You would just need to remove any residue left over. Now this is going under the assumption the badges are held on with double sided tape and not pegs inserted into the fender. I am new to Rangers so not 100% positive

I did use fishing line on my Teggy worked great... but on my ranger I used a screwdriver/knife/pure anger to get my badges off cuz I don't care about the paint. I shoulda mentioned that.

Sorry I didn't update. I haven't made it to the pick-a-part yet. been raining out and got some other things to take care of. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get to go and get some stuff. I did search the junkyard's inventory and it doesn't say they have any '06+ but hey you never know when they last updated it. I'll post pics of the stuff I do :icon_thumby:

Somewhere on here somebody posted about a guy that made FX4 stickers for the 2006 badges, and on his site he also sold the badges for something around $20 each. But unfortunately I can't find it for the life of me.

I am thinking about going badgeless as well. Everybody know what the Ranger looks like, so why not go badgeless. Just a thought.

Cuz there's three big holes behind the badges... well on huge hole and two smaller ones... which isn't really a problem... just the paint is.

I was thinking about shaving it for fun on my wheelin truck but... it's just my wheelin truck. Don't care enough to do it.

What would likely work the best with the least chance of marring the paint would be braided fishing line, that way you could saw through it if you had to. Only problem is, there's two plastic locator pegs.

I've removed them by careful prying with a flat putty knife or an old masonry margin trowel that had been worn to a sharp edge. With care I was able to get them off like that without damaging the paint and the wide blade gives you the ability to gently pry a lil without breaking the badge.

I have yet to see a Ranger, BII or Explorer that did not have badges that were not stuck on with double sided tape. Some of the older F-150s and such had no double sided tape and just a funny lil clip attached to the locator pegs to hold them on. I had thought about putting F-100 Ranger badges on my Ranger before so I've been looking at the older badges, lol.

Alright, I FINALLY made it to the pic-a-part today. Sadly, no newer rangers = no badges, sorry Nick. But I did get a couple other things. Cupholder (broke mine while trying to replace passenger airbag on/off light bulb.) And a new tailgate handle. Mine was broken on one side from rust. Other things on my shopping list include a center console which I still haven't found and I refuse to pay $100 for one on eBay. And new rims for my truck. Mine are looking pretty crappy from salt corrosion and stuff like that. Nick I'll try to keep you updated on the badge situation. Maybe within the next few weeks I'll head back again for another search. I'll post pics of the new tailgate handle replacement if you guys want.

Naptha (zippo lighter fluid) works good for removing sticker glue from paint but not sure on plastic grille but a nice sharp wood chisel gives you the pry action to pop it loose just take it slow and yea the good 3-M double sided foam tape sticks to anything clean and will never fall off you have to pry on it.

Hey, those badges aren't a priority. Thanks for keeping me in mind though man, I appreciate it. I hope you do find some new badges though, it'll look sweet with the new ones. Glad you got some of the other stuff taken care of.

Well I just got my tailgate handle done. I'm pretty happy with it. Here are some pics.

Finally got the SOB off. But the next picture shows what it took.

Had to cut the nut off with a Dremel cause of all the rust.

Here's where the rust had killed the piece that connected it to the backing plate.

Sanded her down, painted her up.

Looks pretty good, eh?

How to take off Ranger badges?

A spec of something got in the paint, so I sanded it out.

Re-re-painted it. (I don't wanna talk about the second 're'.. I messed up again.) And this is how it sits now. I'm happy with the outcome and it works a lot better than my previous one.
