Ok so ive decided on using 1 12" Alpine type r subwoofer. I can either do a 2 ohm or a 4 ohm sub. They cost the same. The rms is 200-500. What would be a good amp for it? the only thing the amp will be powering will be this single sub. so im thinking a mono. Any suggestions?

actually ive decided on a dual channel so that i dont have to buy another small amp for the speakers im putting in. Any input would be appreciated. Really. I mean it.

Have you ever heard of Elemental Designs?

www.elementaldesigns.com should take you there

5 year warranty, free tech support, and their products are supposed to be some of the best out there. They offer a great product for the prices they have. You could also pair it with an Alpine amp or if you want something that is quite a bit cheaper but will get the job done Phoenix Gold or Dual would work.

rockford makes pretty good amps ofr a decent price

This is your guys' forum. I'm not going to preach what can and cannot be recommended here. I'll just say my peace then leave it be...

Ben Milne is the guy who runs that company. To get where he got today he screwed over MANY customers, fellow audio enthusiasts, and even his own friends. A certain well-known competitor was being sponsored by E-Duh. Ben over-rated the woofers' handling ability. This competitor was hung out to dry when these woofers couldn't cut teh cheez. Ben used this well-known enthusiast and other well known enthusiasts' names to get his product out. So many woofers came back as defective, and so many of those woofers' owners never got them back. Let's not forget the second A series with the flat nomex cone where the voice coil former and cone joint oftentimes snapped. Read this link and I'll say no more...

Well, as sad as all those stories are...

There are tons of things that go on everyday at companies that are probably just as bad in many ways but you won't hear much about them. The last post in that thread in from 2004 --- it's been 3 years now and I've read nothing but good about eD so it makes me think that they just had a rough start and made some very poor decisions.

I hate to sound callus to all this but at the same time it's kinda like what do you do?
