front tow hook on 2wd ranger

hi i own a 2002 2wd ranger and there is no place to pull my truck, say if i were to get stuck and you couldn't pull from behind. any ideas where i could mount a tow hook for emergencies only.

According to what I've read, you'd be better off getting a front mounted receiver hitch.

Note, This is on a 4x4 Ranger, you wont have a cross member there

just get them and the hardware from the junkyard from a donor ranger i put fx4 tow hooks on my truck which is a 03 Edge but i had to modify my valence to make them fit but it was easy!

You HAVE that crossmember already there to bolt 'em to.... coil spring ranger's dont. Options are as follows for putting towhooks on a coil spring 2wd 98+

1. Fabricate a crossmember between the frame rails to bolt the factory towhooks to.

2. Cut off a torsion bar truck front crossmember and weld it to your truck. Then bolt the factory tow hooks on.

3. Easiest option: front mount hitch. (see above pics of one helluva bad ass ranger) Get a rear hitch, get some angle iron, cut up hitch to fit frame rails, weld hitch to angle iron. done. don't forget test fits before final weld so the insert actually comes out of the center of your valence hole. lol.
