Yeah I've never tried it with a pre-built oem key on a new motherboard. Too bad i chucked an old Athlon I had, I'd of sent it to ya, all I got left is an 850 duron
This is where I'm confused, the COA for this "new" motherboard. Is this board an OEM (from a dell, HP, ect)? If not the COA will work on any machine. Sorry I just can't keep track of what's what here lol.
No, it won't people keep telling me it will but a PREVIOUSLY USED CoA
will ONLY work without issues on the MoBo (identified by serial number)
that it was originally used on.
If I HAD a "virgin" CoA, I probably wouldn't want to burn it up
on my current machine, infact I don't want to **** around
with my current setup at all UNTIL I have another functioning system
The CoA I have is tied to this specific MoBo which came out of an
HP Pavilion a735w, which although a SIX year old machine is a
generation newer than my current HP system.
IF I had a retail box WIN-XP CoA I would simply use it, but I don't.
IF someone has one...
what socket is your motherboard???? i have several Socket A chips i could send you..... they just need a good home
Yeah, it's a socket A and a friend loaned me a slower one that won't work with the board for some reason.
The MoBo is: ASUS A7V8X-LA
The chips called for are:
Athlon XP 3200+ Barton Processor (2.20 GHz, 400MHz)
Athlon XP 2700+ Thoroughbred Processor (2.16GHz, 333MHz)
I'm pretty sure a 3000+ Barton will work, but anthing slower won't.
Hey, I'm still looking to upgrade to a MoBo that has built on SATA,
which this one does have...
