Right now I'm on deployment at NAS Sigonella, in Sicily. I've been driving around some checking out the sights, and I noticed something awesome.

No Chevy's. I have not seen a single Chevy that wasn't a military owned vehicle. Ford's, on the other hand, are just as common as Fiat's or Opels. And way more common than Toyota's, Nissan's, or any other jap cars. According to the mechanics here, people love Ford's over here, but would rather drive a Yugo than a Chevy.

I guess quality really does show.

Hell yeah.

I've noticed that up to Delhi. There's all of these guy's driving pretty little chevy's and talk big about their trucks but when it comes to the people who actually USE their trucks, they all drive Fords.

One of these days I'll have to snap a picture of my truck parked next to this other guys F250 Super Duty. It dwarfs me.

My grandfather owns a GMC Sierra 1500, has 53,000 miles, seems like every time we tow something that gets around 75% of its rated capacity the darn thing needs new bearings in the rear axle. I think its on its 3rd set already.

20+ years old, 188,000 almost, been loaded over 110% of rated capacity several times and my ranger is still on its first set of rear axle bearings.

that K1500 has a 10 bolt in the back (maybe a 12 bolt if its a heavy half)..... the rear axle in 1500 chevy is marginally stronger than a 7.5". My LD K2500 OTOH has a 9.5" 14bolt........ and can be swapped into a 1/2 ton with less effort that swapping an explorer 8.8 into a Ranger and it is 6 lug (the 2500 'burbs also have the SF 14 bolt but theirs are a SF 10.5" 8 lug, unless my was unique, but its rear cover used the 10.5's gasket and filled up the pumpkin)

If I ever bought a 1/2 ton 'Burb gasser I would give it the rear axle and engine from my Silverado until I found a FF 14bolt and a Chevy front 60

And Jaguar is owned by FoMoCo, but do you really think of a Jaguar as a Ford?

Also, I said Chevy, not GM.

Chevy is owned by GM too.....

I don't remember what the car name is, but it's an Opel. Looks like a Cadillac Catera. When I moved to the US I saw some cars that looked like cars I had seen in Europe and wondered why they didn't have the same name.

If you travel over to England, you will not see any Opels, but you will see "Vauxhalls". It's the English version of an Opel. Same car, same models, different name.

I know, but that's kind of like me commenting on a noticing a lack of Volvos and you saying it isn't true because there are a few Lincolns. Just because it's under the same motor group, doesn't make it the same brand.

hmm.. i didnt know volvo was owned by FoMoCo too. i know i used to have a lincoln LS and that was the same as a jag x-type. alot of the parts were interchangable. mannnn that was the biggest pile of S*#t ever made. why would they put hydrolic cooling systems in any car??? plus everything electrical in the car quit working one at a time...the only good thing about it was it was rear wheel drive and 5sp manual tranny . lol...thats up there in the ranks with the catera!!!

They basically are the same. The only real difference is the emblems and a few pieces.

need to come across the border to Germany....there are plenty of Chevy vehicles that are not American owned.

I think what Trendkill is saying is that the logo brand of Chevy is not really popular where he is at right now.

Whats the deal with Ford changing there name on parts. It use to be that nice emblem with "FORD". Now it is "FoMoCo".

I used to live in Germany, too.

My 53 F100 has the original windshield in it and in the lower corner it says "FoMoCo" in the oval.
