I have found that for everything you pay money for program wise there is an equal or better free version for your computer out there.
I can give you a list of free stuff that blows the bigname/bigdollar stuff away.

Also if someone was to spend greenbacks on antivirus software does it matter if you don'y have the disc and just download it? You think when you buy your PC it comes with all the back ups for a reason. Just wondering......

i found avg to get sluggish and crash after long periods of time. i switched to avast and have not had one problem yet.

Virtualdub or Avidemux, free and opensource.

I have never had any problems with AVG Free. I tried avast once. I was running into some problems with high CPU useage with avast. I didn't like it so I uninstalled and put AVG back on. Never looked back since then.
