front leafs wraping

my bronco 2 has front leafs and a dana 44 last weekend took it out and both front leafs wraped and bent causing the drive shaft to brake the trans shift linkage and then broke a trans cooler line too so had fun getting it off the trail and on the trailer. Anyways anyone got any ideas for what leafs to use or do I need to drop the leafs and link it and go air shocks or coilovers.


The bronco also has a efi 302 if that makes or brakes anyones ideas

Is your pinion angle sh!t?

Have the welds broke on your perches?

What leaves are you running? Spring rate? Shackle length?

just sounds like you were running crappy leafs.

THe pinion angle was good but is not now with thde bent leafs

The welds are good

not sure what leafs they were on it when I got it the shackle is not long maybe 4 inches

this is my short f250 main leaf set up it sucked

then i got some rear wagoneer spings u gotta stretch your front drive shaft

Why rework your entire front suspension just to run coils? Just get a good set of leaf springs and you're set. I have seen some bad ass and VERY capable rigs that are leaf sprung all the way around.

the dana 44 front I have in it still has the wedges on it so it is ready for the radius arms then just have to bolt brackets on so really not much work

the problem Im running into is that the leafs are flexing to much letting the front drive shaft come up to far hitting the trans shift linkage so thought coils could help fix that too

Which end are you shackles on? Front or rear?

Just looked at your pictures in another thread. Your problem is your front shackle setup. "S'ed" springs are common with a front shackle setup.
