I have a 97 ranger with the 4.0 engine, and was wondering who all makes headers for these trucks? I seen Pacesetter makes them, but am not sure how good they really are. If anybody knows what works good please let me know. Thanks

what do ya here about Pace setter?

Its common for them to rust out in a few years.

The header flange usually warps so you get a hiss or tick.

Their fitment is okay at best. Usually requires a lot of tweaking.

JBA headers are the way to go. Had them on my last truck, will purchase them for the new one.

Frick, I literally was just about to go out work on putting my pacesetter headers on my 4.0L...fml...this does not give me any ambition haha. But headers are a PITA to install...and im like...step one on the process and i can tell it'll only get worse.

i'd go with Hedmans just cuz i've had experience with them...on my 91. engine bay fitting was fine. the y-pipe was a little harder cuz of little clearences. JBA's are popular but you pay a minimum of $650(from Summit). Hedmans are $262 painted or $515 ceramic

i have JBA headers for a 1998-2000 that im tryin to get rid of, let me know.

I bought a set of Hedmans for my '92 4.0 and ended up returning them after finding pinholes in the welds at the flange. They would have leaked right off the bat and burned the hole bigger like a burned exhaust valve.

Ended up putting Borla stainless headers on, that was back in '96. Tightened the bolts up and haven't touched since. Still sealed up to this day. Fantastic quality but they don't make them anymore, maybe used ones are out there.
