They are made of Billet Aluminum (6061-T6) which is cheap to get and it easy to make!!!:icon_welder:

IF I were going to make one of those I'd make it out of a solid block of STEEL

My dad's pintle hitch is solid steel, that is one heavy mofo. Sucks lifting out of the back of the truck but you know it ain't going anywhere.

why would someone use a hook when they have a d-shackle right there? i mean i know sometimes a very simple tug is all it needs, but is 15 seconds to take it off and put it on going to ruin your day?

Some of the clevis d shackle bolts are actually welded so they dont get stolen or come loose. My buddy has a jeep that had shackles on his front bumper. At 25 bucks a pop that adds up, quick. Lesson learned he welded his shackles.

I run 4 shackles on my explorer. When im not 4 wheeling, they are in the garage in a bag. Making a shackle permanent kind of defeats the purpose of a shackle. Its suppose to be used so no hooks are involved. Kind of dumb to put a hook onto a shackle to pull someone out in my opinion.

that would be real wasy to make. how much does that paricular one go for?

steel would make it really strong, but 6061 aluminum is pretty damn strong too. either way, you would have a reliable, strong pull out block!
