Need Help

I have a Ford Ranger 1995 4x4 4.0 I replaced the Altinator because my old one had died now my problem is that my battery is not getting a charge. Battery is new and was fully charged. Truck started fine today but, battery indicator in dash slowly dropped to nothing. Is there something else I can check/replace?

wires. check all your wires to the *alternator* and make sure none have worn through. also check all your fuses. I've seen, more than once, a dying alternator take the fuse with it and then you get the new unit in and it still doesn't work and then you are all WFT?!?

Any idea where what fuse I need to look at as my truck has no fuse map to follow!

in the engine compartment fuse block, on the under side of the cover there should be a number map for you to use. you are looking for fuse 17. looking at it with the tapered latch as "up" it is about halfway down, 2 row batch of regular size fuses , second in from the left, bottom row. Should be a blue 15 amp unit.

All the big square fuses have no way to tell so I'll have a peek and see what I can find in the others! BRB

Replaced the fuse and lights out battery charging, so far so good. now I get the battery light on and higher voltage on the meter when I am picking up speed whats up with that?
