Hi to all
I am planning to buy new laptop. But confused little which system to buy.So please share your experience so i can get some ideas.which one is better..?

windows 7 is better. Don't buy vista.

I would wait a,"bit" until a lot of bugs & problems are resolved through general public use. XP is pretty well tried and is a good base I think even over Vista and uses less memory.

Windows 7 really took a new approach to all that. The beta and release candidate were offered to the public for months, and were tested in unheard of numbers. I've used the beta, the RC, and the final release and been extremely impressed with all of them. I use Linux based distros for a lot of things, but it's not appropriate for many people. Windows 7 is the first Microsoft O/S I've been able to recommend wholeheartedly since XP, and the first I've been able to endorse out of the gate since... probably never.

Honestly I haven't had any issues with the lastest "version" of Vista but I've heard nothing but great things about 7... at this point in the game I would probably go with 7 but as said above, waiting a month or as long as possible would definately be to your benefit so they can work out any leftover bugs... and you're getting close enough to holiday season and that can mean big sales...

Windows 7 is far superior to Vista, even though it is basically Vista underneath.

I've heard 7 referred to as Vista TF for t*** (rhymes with word)-free since they cut all the crap out of it.

lol i did but i have a computers with mac, linux, and windows. The most problems i get are from windows !!!! Thats why windows has like millions of virus and mac and linux only have a couple thousands!!!

Vista i Orible. my sons have been running seven since they released the trial version and have been happy with it. I don't like either of them but that's probably cause I'm an old fart and the older you get the more you resist change.

:bsflag:

This is bullshit. Dude joins 3 days ago and his first post is a computer question. Also look at the year/make/model info for his truck. Am I the only one who noticed these things?

I see justice has been served. He's banned.

If you didn't notice, he's also long since been banned. Doesn't make the topic worthless, though.

I bought and installed Windows 7 this weekend and it's a lot like Vista. They changed the control panel around as they have small icons, large icons, and category view. I noticed some things like phone and modem options are not available in the category view>hardware and sound like in Vista, and you have to access it through the small/large icons. The taskbar is also a lot different. I have heard a lot about 7 using less system resources than Vista, but the system requirements are the same. I figure if you have a system that runs Vista now you will be ok, but maybe not if you have XP.

One of the main reasons Windows has more virus's and attacks than OSX/Linux is more user base. why write a virus to attack a small percentage of users when you can go for the majority? I'm sure if it was worth it to people they could write more attacks for systems other than Windows, it's just not worth the hassle.

Exactly. I hate it when people say Macs don't get viruses, while they certainly can, it's just that less people make viruses for them since so few people use them compared to computers running Windows.

Anyway, I would definitely say 7 is a nice improvement over Vista. I think Vista is fine but 7 improves upon it and is ready to be released since the beta and RC were both great and Microsoft has worked out most of the bugs.
