Thinkin about a flatbed

I'm thinkin about a flatbed for when wheelin season comes around again. I love my step side but when ever I'm on the trail I worry about beatin it up too much. Plus, with a light bar and a tool box and an air tank and full size spare, I don't have any room for haulin shit.

Any pics of your rangers w/ flatbeds?

I've seen one that allprooffroad offers for yodas that's pretty bad ass but i don't have the 500 bucks for it.

you could draw up one and i could help u weld/bend it and slap it on. you know? personally i wish i wouldve kept my bed, yea it was more stuff prone to damage, and thanx to my stupidity i have to buy a metal to make my own bed or buy that all pro kit.

Pirate normally is not worth my time, but I found this thread the other day. It's all about Toy's but the goal is ideas, right?

If I ever have a truck and put a deck on it I plan on putting my spare standing up against the cab on the left side, behind the driver. Saves deck space and doesn't hamper visibility much. Just sharing ideas.

my idea has always been to build a roof rack type deal to put on top of the bed and have 6 - 8 inch sides .. then you could have stuff under the rack in the bed and it couldnt fly out then have other stuff in the rack easy access

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not partial to Toyotas, nor am I against them, but the guys that have them seem to build some sweet things.

If I had it to do over again (I do, and I am) I would steer away from a flatbed, I like the idea of a bobbed and tapered (dovetailed) bed. In order to be functional for hauling anything, you need stake sides on a flatbed. I hated always having to tie stuff down, even just to run around town.

Even on big trucks with flatbeds, I like either fold-down sides or stake sides.

I wouldn't know, I found a sweet Toyota club's website, they are based in lower Alberta. He defiantly had the most rad rig of the bunch.
He very well could work there, like I said, the wheeled lower Alberta, if I remember correctly this pic was taken on a trip through an area west of Waiporous, they went around some mountains.

Exactly the reasons that I went with a box like this:

I can still just throw things in the back and not worry about them but at the same time you drag it along some trees an not worry about it.
