so im going through this forum, 15+ pages so far...and im new to this stuff only being 19, and all.

so impendance is like resistance? the less ohms like 2/1/0 the easier the electricity flows? :icon_confused:

to measure the output of your system, use the average RMS of them...not max.... :icon_thumby:

capacitors....um, like an extra battery but with alot quicker reaction time? so how do you wire one in? like it need to be hooked to the alt still?

how to match amps with subs? use an amp with a little more than the RMS average on the sub, cause amps dont put out that much normally...but what about the dual coil thingys and the single? ...and how to match the ohms together like parellel setup and in line style. :dunno:

these are just some of the things ive been "pondering" about. hopefully you guys will help me out. this will be like a long upgrade style truck, with me going to college ($32,000 for 2 and 1/2 years for a 4 year degree) so im kinda limited at the moment and this is just like a big old project truck.

yes impedience is resistance, the less resistance you present to an amplifier the more power it will put out as long as its stable at that load. some amps are 2 ohm stable, some can do 1 ohm stable, and a few can do .5 and .25 but you cant have 0 resistance

yes use rms power output and power handling when matching equipment, max power is a worthless rating used only to trick people lol

caps: some use them most dont, i prefer a better battery up front and if needed additional batteries in back. caps will only help so much, without a decent electrical system to begin with no amount of caps will keep your voltage up where it needs to be. but wiring up a cap or second batt is just connecting it to the + and - of your amp wiring.

you can usually get away with running a little extra power to a sub or subs as long as you set your amp up right but just try to match them up as close as you can.

use this link and just play around entering in different amount of subs and different voice coil configurations, if you pick your subs first use the link and it will show you all the different ways you can wire them up and what kind of amp is recommended ( 1ohm stable, 2 ohms stable etc...)

Good job answering all his questions. what are you looking to do in means of a sub?
