back fire pop

i have a single chamber muffler on my 2003 3.0 . i love the way it sounds . when i went to ford dealer the guy in the service area said that the truck should not be backfiring like that even with a single chamber muffler on it . that there should still be enough back pressure . i mean i like the way it pops when it is down revin . my question to you guys is do you guys think that the backfire pop is going to cause me any long term problems and should i get it looked at befor i run into problems ?

It's totally normal with modified exhaust to get some popping on pretty much any vehicle, it's nothing to worry about.

If anyone ever mentions the term 'back pressure' you should just walk away...

My 2.3 makes people jump when I get her going good....
the 4.0 with flowmaster and 2.5in duals gets a little poppy, but nothing an untrained ear would hear. and it has 3 freaking cats!!!!!!!!!!

It's stock.......... I'm getting headers, maybe losing one of them, I mean it's ridiculous.
And we don't do emissions testing in KY, you send in 12 dollars to the state and they send you a pass card

Yeah, a little "pop" is nothing to be overly concerned over, esp. with an aftermarket exhuast. You should hear my 84 BII, with the stock, factory muffler still on it. I run it down the road a couple of miles, under hard throttle, and let up. THEN it will "RRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" when you let off loud enough to even make the ricers' look at it like "WTF, Dude?" On shut down, you can count to 4 and there is a big "BANG" and a small bit of fire out of the end of the pipe. I love the look on peoples' faces at the mall, or in a parking garage. I REALLY love the ones that "spook" at the "BANG."

Yeap my 97 2.3 pops so loud if i floor it in second, then let off, i see heads turning everwere, that's why I do it lol. but mine is straight-piped into duals...no muffler on mine lol

totally normal to pop. hears my blazer for sale with a 4.3, magnaflow xl muffler, and a cold air intake.

i have stock exhaust up till the snd cat then afetr that its a 2.5" cherry bomb the it splits to duals right b4 the rear tire. out the side. but i have it just ending after the cats for a while it backfired so loud it shook the floor
