so i just did another scan with my code reader on my 93 exploder. its throwing code 172, "o2 senseor detects a lean condition on the right side." it just started throwing code 177, o2 sensor detects a rich condition on the left side."

so my ? is. how hard are these 02 sensors to do? ive never got the joy of doing one. i was told i have to splice the wires but i was also told that they just unplug:icon_confused:

The codes say "o2 senseor detects a lean condition on the right side."...

Which essentially means the o2 sensor is doing it's job....something else is most likely wrong, the o2 sensors themselves are probably just fine. You may have a Vaccum leak (Lean), High fuel pressure (Rich) leaking FPR...etc

I bet if you were to swap the o2 sensors from right to left, you would get the same codes. :icon_thumby:

ok so your saying check my fuel pressure regulator? how do i do that?

You are correct! If the left and right 02 sensors are swapped you will get a lean on one side and a rich on the other.

yup i did that and got the same codes. how to i check my fuel pressure regulator?

Pull the vaccum line off the back of it, if it smells like fuel or if any fuel leaks out, then the diaphragm inside is cracked and leaking extra fuel into the vaccum line, which is connected to your intake manifold. So your getting more fuel than you should be.

That doesn't explain the lean side tho...I would guess a vaccum leak of sorts for starters.

ok ill check it out

well i have no and i mean no vacume leaks. so idk

I went through something like this....Started at the O2's, went to MAF the coil pack, checked every thing under the hood....ended up being injectors....I'm like the others....O2's are probably ok.....if you want to check them out get on YouTube and you can watch a vid on checking them with a tourch and volt meter. Does it act like it is flooding out?

no it does not, it just sputters, misses, has no power, and no fuel mileage
