further testing shows the solenoid is bad

ok more bad news on 'operation fire up the 302' lol. got my continuous cranking problem fixed, bad solenoid #2. back to puttin fuel into the carb. now i have fuel filling the engine when gravity feeding and pump off. call edelbrock tech support. they are telling me that the floats and needle valves are stuck on the new carb i got from them. god im having a sting of luck in the last week.

so i took my carb to work today and found that my float valves were sticking, causing my fuel to run into the intake. took it apart and cleaned it up and im gonna give it another shot tonite

i pulled it from a junkyard for $300. its a 87 ltd crown vic cop car engine, so its the ho. it had efi but when i rebuilt it i put the carb manifold on it. got about $3k in it now with the ignition and fuel systems.

an update on operation fire the 302= almost got it to catch a few times, but the a/f mix and timing needs to find the sweet spot yet, so enough fun for the night.

alright i managed to borrow a timing light late this afternoon and didnt have time to go and base time it, so tomorrow is another day

well not my day again. went from the float valves sticking open the other day and getting waay to much fuel, to working good for a day and now today im not getting fuel past the float bowls. i took it apart and cleaned the jets and blew out all the passages and nothing is blocked. put it back together and pumped fuel to it with the same problem, no fuel past the bowls. i picked up the rebuild kit on the way home but i dont know if rebuilding it is goin to solve my problem seeing as nothing is blocked. if anyone has any ideas let me know. its a edelbrock performer 600

sell the elder-brock and buy a holley ! ta da ! no more problums . lol but i love the build ! definatly think the swb is goona be soooooo much fun in the dry ........ and a freakin blast in the wet ! props to you ! :headbang:

sell the elder-brock and buy a holley

seconded, every edelbrock i've had to deal with has been a pain in the ass. get a holley or a demon carb, i've heard nothing but great things about demon carbs.

id love to buy a demon but i dont really wanna pony up the 500 bucks for one, and as for getting the holly, not happening ive had way to many problems with them and everyone i know that has one hates it. true they are easy to adjust but it seems like every time you use the damn thing you have to readjust them. the edelbrock is a good carb its just having its time of the month. ive never had problems out the edelbrocks like this

well tryin to clean the shop up some tonight, so i set some of the interior in, and no its not in final, just to clear some space up in the shop.
