what does everyone do for a living!

I have a union job with a company that's actually very financially secure. To the snooty, my 35K+ per year might seem like chump change, but I believe you don't have to be rich to live rich. It's all about being wise with the money you do make.
At the same time, I'm in my 13th year at the same job (I started when I was 18) and it's taking quite a toll on my body. I've had various work related injuries before, and now a back injury that I may have to deal with for the rest of my life. I'm 31, everyone says I look 20, but there's too many days where I feel like I'm 70. When I was in the hospital for my back surgery, I vowed to start taking the necessary steps to get out of the business I'm in. I also came to the conclusion that the reason I've been complacent is because I make good money, only work 40 hours a week (giving me lots of free time) and have Blue Cross insurance that I only have to pay $4 a week for, and get 4 weeks paid vacation each year. It'll be hard to walk away from that, but I will eventually, when the time is right and when I have something else secured. I've been very blessed, especially in this Michigan economy, but right now it's all about saving every penny I can, like we all should be doing.

It's a good plan to save. I am now 30 and have saved 15% of my GROSS since i started working at 16. Because of that, and not taking out loans to buy things, I don't get nervous over financial things.

Military Police for the last 12 years in the Active duty Army, was in the Infantry for the first 3 years of those 12 though! 3 years Infantry, 3 years sniper on a SWAT, 3 years Recruiter and 3 years as a desk sergeant and PSD. I am about to venture to upstate NY to do CID.

Jason, have you ever been in the military?

Yes, Regular army 11B until a nasty injury. Where in upstate are you heading? I live in Buffalo.

Nothing wrong with that. Money isn't everything my friend. I made 75k a year at the dealership, but I hated the ****ing customers. Those needy bastards would make an honest man a murderer I tell you.

That'll be me:icon_rofl:

But then again, if a customer is not careful, a car salesperson can Fudge you in the axxhole so bad. There are some very stupid customers out there that'll pay sticker price.

As for me, full time College Student.

Right, I'm the same way. I've never actually done the math to determine exactly what percentage I've saved since I started serious work, but I do know what I have in the bank. :D I know too many people who have to have EVERYTHING they want RIGHT NOW, and don't think about the future. Every financial decision I make, I ask myself how it's going to affect me 1,5,10 years down the road. And of course growing up with a father who brought home the bacon and set the example helped a lot.

I know exactly where you're coming from, brother. Hopefully I'll wake up, because I work at one pace - warp speed. I bust ass a little too much, and I have to learn to pace myself before it kills me. I'll always be a hard worker though. It's just my nature. Take care of your back man! Don't end up like me!
