Ok I have a 1993 Ranger (spalsh) 4 cylinder 5 speed manual trans. I have the oprtunity to buy a 1992 mark 7 complete car (EDITED) it is the 5.0 HO engine (sorry for the confusion) Would this swap work and how hard would it be or has anyone done this swap before? thanks

I have nothing to really add to this post but could I buy your 6-speed trans? It would be cool to have the only one:thefinger:

A 1993? Mark VIII that would be, with the venerable 4.6DOHC... I say go for it! I am looking for one that's wrecked for a swap into my 2000 Ranger...I just love the way those sound...

if its a mark 7 then its a 4.6 sohc.... if its a dohc its possible but a pain in the ass i tried it... horrible failure

What went wrong in the swap? We always hear about the good, never the bad. Always need good feed back on things like this!

Well, now that makes it simple and not as interesting... Been done a thousand times...

I used a '92 Mark VII 5.0 in mine. I like to think it lead a gentler life than a Mustang, but who knows.
Those cars are Speed Density computers. Not a big deal. All the sensors are the same as a Mass Air car.

If you want to use the Lincoln wiring harness, there is an excellent write up on www.grannysspeedshop.com (an RX-7 V8 swap site) That harness is a different shape than the typical '93 Mustang harness you see in pictures.

The Lincoln uses the same mounts as Fox convertibles and '94/'95 Stangs. That's good. Has the stock Mustang-type headers.
Also, the car will likely have a traction lok you can grab, as well as rear discs you can fab up with a little internet research.

And of course, get a Harwood manual for your Ranger, it's $25 well spent.
