Hey all this is the first time i have had something like this happen..

i have a 96' 4.0 2wd

first off i just hand the engine rebuilt and when the motor was out i put in a new clutch.

with in the last few days i had noticed that it was just a bit harder to get it into gear. one night as i was driving home i stopped at a light and there was NOTHING getting it into first.. at that light i was able to get it into second and then into 3rd.. then another light. at that one i had to jump into 3rd right off the bat and made it the rest of the way home.

i checked the Dot.3 and it seemed to be filled.. any ideas on what i should trouble shoot????

thanks all.

bad slave cyl or bad master cyl, or both.

does pumping the pedal help?

Bummer.. Should have replaced the slave when you replaced the clutch..
Been there, done that...

check out the transmission forum, theres like 3 threads about this same problem including the one i started. try bleeding your system, thats what i did and ive been doin fine for 1 1/2 weeks. mine is the slave.

Yes, it is an internal slave.
