Anybody know of some lightweight hinges for a tailgate.....you know.....the kind that are made of 2 pieces of thin flat metal with a rivet holding the 2 pieces end to end so they fold up when you raise the tailgate ? What make of small truck would use them ?

Is that what you're talking about? The only place I've seen them is on screen doors of houses. Home depot would probably have them.

One end bolts to the side of the tailgate & the other end bolts to the inside wall of the bed........another one goes on the passengers side of the tailgate/bed.........

Egg-zakly!.........they fit closer to the bed walls than cables do.....I could make a pair out of polished stainless steel, but for now just neeed a pair that I can paint........visit boneyard perhaps?????????
