Hello all. First time poster, long time lurker. I have a 1999 Ford Ranger that has paint that is starting to oxidize. It has not started flaking yet. The worst of it is on the hood and top of the cab. It's now starting to show up around the rest of the truck too.

What can I do to save this before it gets too bad? Is it already too late? Would it be better to take it to a professional? If so, who would handle this kind of thing? If you have a suggestion for a person in the Inland Empire and surrounding area of Southern California, let me know.

Looks ok for the most part.

Until you look at the hood.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions on how to take care of the yellowing headlights, I'd be interested in that too.

well for the headlights jsut get either the meguirs headlight restore kit or the turlte wax(cheaper) kit and they both work amazing

that almost looks like clear coat failure. and if thats the case there is no coming back from it. you can get a detailer to polish the paint but it will keep coming back and gradually get worse. you will eventually have to repaint the truck. if it really is oxidation though try some Nu Finish car polish or a good quality wax.

I can also Appreciate that advise. Just called Autozone. they sell a product that cleans the yellow off headlights. he said it's a night and day difference but it still won't look new. its 7.99 as far as I'm concerned thats money well spent. Didn't catch what the product was called as the guys english wasn't perfect
