so just got done throwing a longblock in my buddy's 1992 3.0l 5sp ranger. problem is she is not registering oil pressure. the gauge worked in the old motor, sending unit is connected. it has 5 quarts of oil, new filter dipstick installed along with oil pickup, etc... its making some top end noise that makes me think its not getting oil, plus the gauge is reading zero.... any ideas? i torqued the rockets to 28ft/lbs instead of 24ft/lbs... could that be making my top end noise?

no oil pressure?

assuming your using the stock oil gauge it is just a dummy gauge. It either reads normal or 0. I suggest getting a mechanical gauge to get an accurate reading.

If it worked with the other engine, it should work with this one as well.

did you put the long block together? sounds to me like you forgot to put an oil plug in.

A month of go i took my headlights out when i took my grill off to paint it. I was careful with them and 1 bulb quit and the other quit a couple days later. Sometimes stuff funny like that happens.

the GAUGE worked with the other engine. is this the same or a different SENDER?

thats a 3.0. it looks different than yours because it has the older aluminum plenum on it. not the black plastic one like yours.
