SO i did the GM 4 prong HEI Duraspark setup on my ranger... and the idle has been kinda funny ever since. It idles fine at whatever for like a few seconds then drops im gonna guess 75 100rpm's idles down there for a few seconds and goes back up to normal and just repeats that...? I have been looking for a vacuum leak or something but nothing has turned up? Is it possibly suposed to go up and down like that? Or what would possibly cause this?

what carb are you running on the duraspark conversion?

I am not completely positive, the one i got came from another 2.8L ranger and had no tag. I believe its a motorcraft 2150 cause the butterfly flaps fit right in and it looks identical to one on my friends car, but i know there is like a bajillion versions that look similar.

One of my thoughts was that the gasket might be plugging a hole for the carb... ?

check your base timing I believe it should be bout 12 btdc. I believe if you had a vacuum leak the truck would run rough and maybe not run at all. I came cross a bad vacuum leak yesterday and my truck wouldn't stay running.

Yep timing has been set at 12 since i did it... it kinda gives me the impression that it has A/C (like when the ac clutch kicks in and the idle goes down a little bit) except the ac is a little sticky. I don't have ac anymore though...
