Heres the story. I bought this truck over a year ago and my domelight never worked. yesterday i decided to use the WD40 trick for my door ajar light issue(exept i use pb blaster):headbang:. now I was on a roll and took a trip to autozone. Light bulbs werent the issue so I replace the fuse. All the sudden an alarm I never knew my truck had went off like crazy:icon_confused:. I dont have a remote! Basicly it arms itself and everytime i go to open the door(locked or unlocked) it goes off until i can throw the key in the ignition and hit the reset button.(I thought that the red light and button was just a theft deterrent not a full alarm)

So how do i do a temperary disconnect until I can get a remote from ford?:shok:

BTW it is whatever alarm would have come with a 1999 Ranger XLT Sport:icon_confused:

If you're having to hit a reset button, it sounds aftermarket. If it's aftermarket, there's a good chance that it's just stuck up behind the dash. Take a look-see up behind the driver's dash for a box or wiring that doesn't look factory. They can usually just be unplugged.

I cant find any reasonable way to unplug it. Im really thinking it came from the dealer

Karr is aftermarket, most likely installed at the dealership. The alarm may have a starter kill circuit, which may require restoring the original starter wiring. If you're not comfortable removing it, take the truck to a good 12 volt (car stereo) shop.

thanks for your help y'all. It was a factory alarm. I figured out to hold the alarm reset and put the key in and turn the key to on. This put the alarm in standby mode and it will not go off until I take it off standby:yahoo:
