ok im kinda puzzled.

ok i bought a jvc 1200 watt/ 350rms dual voice coil subwoofer today and to power it i bought a jvc 600 watt peak/ 100x2 rms amp. right now ive got it bridged on one channel. it i gave each voice coil its own channel of the 100 watts rms would it still work? cuz right now when its bridged if you run it for a few minutes and a decently loud volume the safety shut off kills power to the amp to prevent failure. im running 12 guage wire, and i have the gain i think it is about halfway up. im not real sure how the law of the ohms work. anyway much help would be apreciated.

to clarify hes trying to run a 2 ohm final load on the 2ch amp that is only stable at 4 ohm while bridged, you would be okay running 1 coil per channel but you wont be getting the full power running each channel at 4 ohms when it is stable down to 2 ohms if you dont have it bridged.

Voice coils wired in parallel
Recommended Amplifier: Stable at 2 or 1 ohm mono

Option 2 (series) = 8 ohm load
Voice coils wired in series
Recommended Amplifier: Stable at 4, 2, or 1 ohm mono

since you cant really do option 1, you would have to choose between:
a: running 1 coil per channel (recommended)

b: wiring it in series (option 2) and run the amp bridged but you will really lose power running it at 8 ohms, but it wont hurt the amp it just wont be as loud

c: wire it in parallel anyways and see how long till it goes into protect and wont come out or lets some magic smoke out.

Id go with option A personally but B would also work and C might be kinda fun lol...

i was running it paralel when i had it bridged. switched to a 1 channel per voice coil and it aint very loud. im just gonna run it bridged till i get a better amp.

yea i dont thinkthe amp will fail, but when my old sony 600 did this and i went from using 12 guage to some big concert equipment speaker wire that my buddie uses for wiring up concerts the shutting off stopped. think it will work? i mean im using 12 guage which is the biggest i culd find.

12 guage? you shouldnt use anything smaller than 8 imo. Lol i have 8 ga for my speaker wire and 0ga for power.

since your amp has 2 20 amp fuses you want to use wire capable of carrying 40 amps. what size fuse were you using in your power wire fuse?

right now it has a 30 amp fuse in it. 12 guage wire is the thickest i could find. i went to radio shack and thats the biggest they had. also the amp is not a self cooling one, i mean tit aint got a fan or anything, just the little vents. is there anyway i could put a fan or something on or close to the amp to cool it down? maybe take the bottome off or somthing?

just get yourself a very good, high quality set of jumper cables. the ones with lots and lots of tiny copper wires bundled in each one. cut off the clamps and there you go, excellent power wires with superb shielding. and for less than $30 usually!

good quality power wire for dirt cheap, you would be fine with 8 ga but if you plan on upgrading in the future do yourself a favor and just run 4 ga the first time.

do you mean your using 12awg for power and ground wires? maybe i misunderstood something
