My truck finally developed her first leak. No complaint here though, because this truck has been more than amazing. 201,xxx miles and she is finally starting to give in just a little bit. Now I just gotta find out where this is coming from.

I bet it is coming from the water pump weep hole. Check that. A water pump is easy to replace.

That's what I was thinking too. Funny thing is, I think this solves the "Case of the Disappearing Coolant." I thought I may have had a blown gasket. The last couple of oil changes I did, I looked at the oil and it looked normal. Not milky or anything.

If I were you, I would do an oil analysis just to be sure there isn't an internal problem as well.

hhhhmmmmm.....noticed something else while I was just out there looking. Any ideas what this yellowish stuff is? I wiped a little bit of it off with a towel.

I don't think it's from the weep hole. It looks too far back. Look at the picture you made the arrow on. The weep hole is on top of the water pump near the far right of the picture. The slime looks like water and oil emulsed.

id pressure test the cooling system, an oil analysis is you sending off a sample of your oil and have a company see what is in the oil, it can tell you if there is coolant, fuel, bearing mat., etc. in the oil

hhhmmm....I didn't know you could do that. Google time!

Might be worth the effort to double check hoses/clamps/etc. We've got what I thought was a blown head gasket--turned out it was one of the heater hoses that goes to the waterpump didn't seal correctly. It just seeped out and ran down the front of the engine, and eventually made its way to the oil filter area.

Just saying...Water follows the path of least resistance. It might be from a bit higher up, and just collecting where you are seeing it.

Very true. I tried to see where it was coming from, but I couldn't. I can't see anything from the top and I can't see very far up from the bottom while laying on the ground. I wish I had a lift or at least access to one. That would make trying to find it a lot easier. FWIW, it does look like it is coming from the water pump area, so maybe this weekend I'll take the intake off and see if I can get a better look.

Is that water/oil emulsion anything to worry about?
