So here is a question, if you were running conventional 5w30 and changed to full synthetic in ONE oil change, is it okay to then change the oil every 8,000 miles?(with some residue of the dino oil still in the crankcase?)

Yes. Although I would start with a 5k mile change interval and get a UOA done to determine how long you can go next time.

all these things that the oldsters say about synthetic used to be true, but synthetic oil has come along way...... Far enough I trusted a $15,000 600 rwhp HP Pittsburgh Power overhauled Caterpillar 3406E to Royal Purple.

, Ya, another Royal Purple user. Its what I've been running in the Ranger with good results. And the oil anaylsis keeps coming back better and cleaner than the last. Too bad I can't get the max-cycle localy. Then it would be running in the KLX too.

I have gotten samples out for analysis and the royal purple was almost still clean with the first sample @ 10,000 miles. I wouldn't change the oil until the lab said I absolutely had to, but I still had to change the filter every 10,000 - 15,000. (normal interval for a big cat)

my trucks got 97.000 miles is it worth it?

i heard it could actually damaging to vehicles with a lot of miles

Your truck is a 2003, it will handle synthetic just fine. You may want to consider a high-mileage synthetic however.

My dad keeps his old '91 Town Car at his house in FL, it has about 160,000 on it now and I switched it to syn at 140,000. Only because it smoked like a two-stroke (the valve seals are shot) and with Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w-30 it doesn't smoke or burn as much oil. Still burns oil, you just can't see the smoke. A trick I learned from my cousin who works at a large used car lot.
