i have a 1994 ford ranger reg. cab long bed 2wd. i have fiberglass leaf springs and i was wondering how i flip the axle to on top of the springs to give it a little lower of a drop...? any suggestions??? and pics would help a great deal too.

thanks, brandon

you would have to weld on a new spring perch, that's about it, but you do realize that is going to drop it like 4", right?

if you only want a little bit lower you can flip the rear spring hangers so the shackle works the other way, I think there's 6 rivits to grind off to do this, replace them with 1/2" bolts, I believe you have to swap the hangers side to side and drill some new holes, but is otherwise pretty straight forward. if I remember right this gives about 2" of drop and a little bit better ride

Buy a flip kit and some lift shackles, or flip your hangers like stated above

You do NOT need new perches welded on. A DJM flip kit has the U Shaped locators for the top of the spring and lines it up on the under side of the original perch as you can see here:

So no perch welding necessary . . . there is more information in the Tech Library about flipping the rear axle. If you have any troubles or get stuck - check back. My write up is in the current TRS Magazine . . .

thanks you guys i really appreciate the help, im gonna flip it and ill have the pics up when i get it done.

thanks,

Since you have a fiberglass spring, it's not going to lower it as much as a set of steel springs would.

I want to see pics too when you're done. God bless and have fun!

here's a better view of what hazmat's got
