help on cut out

I bought a 2003 fx4 ranger with a 4.0.When i get to 92mph it cuts out like a governer.I did some reading somewhere and someone said you would need to buy a programmer around 300 to 400 to reprogram to fix.My ? is how hard is it to use and im not a computer geek .Are there any other things that can be done.What are the chips they sale on ebay what good are for.Please give any info. thanks

Why do you need to go that fast? If you buy the programmer and you are caught by the local law enforcemnt people you may/could get a ticket more than what you paid for the programmer. If you need to get there that much faster you should have left 10 minutes earlier. That's just my opinion....as it is your choice and truck.

+1.... Ford put that limiter on there because they felt it was the fatest possible speed somebody could safely drive their truck... There is no reason you need to drive your truck that fast...

92 miles a hour in a truck is asking to have a accident. its a truck not a sports car.

92 miles a hour on my old rustang its just starting to get up to speed to grip the road better. =>

I know what you mean.......let him pass you and let him get the ticket. You'll still make it first as he was pulled over by the police.
