alt. paddle mirror fix

so I was reading the paddle mirror fix a while back and decided two days ago to give it a go...

I took off the mirror thinking it would be easy and after I started looking at it I figured out a in my mind a better way of doing this repair.

instead of removing the plate and using screws to re-install it I decided to use a center punch on two sides of the dimple in the center of the plate.

this took up the slack that was caused by years of use (21) and it moves like it were brand new... no slop.

funny thing is, after I fixed the driver side the passenger side (was the good one) seemed to go limp on me.




so if you guys want photos I'm gonna do my passenger side and I can do the step by step on that side if I get three people asking for the pics.

at least one person will use these pictures, and will be thankful that somebody as seasoned in the field as you are supplied the pictures for them.

I don't understand the sarcasm... I hate uploading photos... it's like 900 steps I have to take.

maybe since you're so seasoned as you wouldn't being commenting about me if you weren't, could take the photos and I'll use them to describe where to use the center punch.

I was serious dude.... I wasn't being sarcastic at all.

I'm in no way seasoned, but I've seen alot of your posts around here, and you know your stuff.

you start off by taking the mirror off, now I'm not going to insult anyones intelligence by showing pics of that....


now, with it off you may notice that the plate on the bottom is bowed out a bit... that could be 'cause it's the thinest peice of metal in the world!!! anyways, this is the problem we're trying to fix.

simple take a center punch like this or something similar.

and put as many "dents" in the plate as you feel is needed, I put two and the 75 MPH wind plus gusts while on the express way still fold it over, so you may have to play with it more than once to get it the way you want.
