Bronco 2 max tire size without lift?

Hello, Does anyone run 31x10.5x15 without lift. I picked some up recently and would like to put them on the b2 but I'm not sure if they'll rub. I don't have rims for them yet. Some advice on the backspacing would be helpful. Thanks.

The biggest I could fit on my 88 was 30-9.50-15's on 15x8 rims. They rubbed some. 2 inch body lift later and no problems. I could probably mount 30-10.50-15's as well now.

it kinda depends on the condition of your springs. my 86 would fit them but my 84 wouldnt without a body lift. the 31's that is.

I'm probably gonna try the 2" lift with shackles and spacers and try to fit them in one of these days. The TRS tech article says you need a 3" body lift plus a 2" suspension lift to fit 31s without fender trimming, I just don't see how that's possible. I had a 94 Ranger with 31's and no lift whatsoever, I just can't see how a Bronco II would need 5" more lift than a next gen Ranger to fit the same tires.

The '89-'90 BII's will fit 31's stock because of the larger front wheel opening. The '84-'88 BII's need a little more lift in the front. I couldn't get 31's to fit on my '86 even with 4.0 Ranger springs installed (and they gave it about 1" of lift).

so a stock 15x8 5 on 4.5 rim should be ok? Is there a certain backspace that would be better to have for turning? eg would 3.5 be hard on the wheel bearings? would 4 be good? 5 to much.

The tires rubbed in the back when you would cross a ditch or steep incline. They hit the top side of the tire. They also rubbed the bottom lower part of the front inner fender. This is probably due to the wheels. 15x8 is wider than the stock rims. They also have a 3.5 inch offset. They stick out a little farther but give the truck a more balanced stance and better ride control. My front bearings went out at 135,000. The truck ran this set up for 35,000 of that.

well in that case I may go ahead and grab some 31x10.50s (maybe used?) and put them on my stock 15x7 wheels and see what happens. My eventual plan is to have a 4" class II SJ lift with 32x11.50R15 on Cragar Soft 8's. It's just the amount of money involved in that is more than I can spend right now, and I can hardly stand the way it looks on the stock suspension.
