2.9L viberation

I have a viberation in the engine at 2500RPM and higher. I have a A4LD trans.
I did away with clutch fan on engine and went to electric fan, which I am very happy with that change. That did not make any difference in viberation.

Vibration damper maybe.

Could it be the torque converter? I've seen that cause a vibration above certain speeds.

a "Bad" vibration on a 2.9 Auto makes me immediatly suspect a broken flex plate.

It's a fairly common problem.

And sadly it's the first thing that needs to be ruled out.

+1 i had an 88 that had a vibration. as i was taking it over to a friends to look for the vibration the engine raced up to wot and the truck quit moving

Out of curiosity, since I have never had to deal with a broken flexplate, is that a pull the tranny kind of inspection, or look through the inspection cover kind of inspection? Where do they normally break? Near the crank?

I am replacing my third broken flexplate. Every time I have inspected or replaced the crank spacer. What am I missing?
This is in an 88 Bronco II, A4LD, 4:10 gears, 31x10.5's

I had a pretty healthy vibration due to the rear tires going bad....not to say it could still be the flex plate...just another thought
