I want to put 411's in a 28 axle and have 31 inch tires. what does it mean when it says gears must use 373or higer case? it has 346's in it now with a 2.3

No such thing as a dumb question

That means your current gears have to be 3.73:1 or higher ie: the geras you have in now are higher gears than the 3.73:1 ratio in order to put this set of gears in. YOU CAN PUT THESE GEARS IN YOUR TRUCK

The rotating piece that the front differential ring gear bolts to is different for 3.45 and numerically smaller Dana28 axles Vs Dana 28 axles with 3.73 or numerically higher.

this situation is refered to in the industry as a "Carrier break"

4.56 gears cannot be mounted to a 3.45 Dana 28 carrier.

You need to find a 3.73 or 4.10 Dana 28 differential carrier.

He needs a carrier designed for the 3.73:1 or higher gears. His factory gears are lower than that, meaning he has a different carrier. They will not work.

EDIT:Allan beat me, nevermind...

Does anyone have an idea where I could get one at? so its basically the whole inside that holds the other gears and ring right?

dumb question

I miss read the reply. So according to STTRUE16 the 4.11 gears will fit without having to change anything else right? or am i not reading this right?

just find a D35 with 4.10s and just not have to worry about it. since you nee a different D28 anyways.
