I recently had this transmission rebuilt by a REPUTABLE trans shop. I mean these dudes are golden.

I paid very close attention when installing the NEW torque converter, and made sure it seated properly. I filled up the trans with new fluid, made sure all my connectors were tight, and when I hit the ground for a test drive, it slips like crazy?!? I called the trans shop, and they said to make sure it was full of fluid or just drive it up to them. About 60 miles away? I made sure the gasket between the trans and the transfer case was correctly installed. The trans shop said it might be leaking back into the transfer case, checked the fluid and there's nothing out of the ordinary. Does this sound like anything anyone has dealt with??

Thanks in advance for anyone's opinions.

kinda sounds like the tourq converter not in all the way?? i think it sits in about three times i belive the third time it slips into the pump maybe its not in all the way for the pump and just cuase its bolted in its tight and turning the pump but not full force like it should.. unless the shop did a bad job i dont know

More often than not when it's not in all the way you won't be able to start the truck as it will be bound up. Did you fill your torque converter with fluid?

The trans shop said that I should run 4 quarts into the trans and run the engine for a bit to fill up the TC, I was a bit skeptical, but I did as they said. Its actually not slipping this morning after I let it set all night, and after a fluid check it was low again. Is the system finally getting filled up?

Are you checking your fluid level with the engine running? I've seen a lot of people make that mistake.

Fill to the full cold mark and let the truck idle until it's at or close to operating temp. Then see if you're at the full hot mark and adjust as needed.

You should always fill the torque converter before installing.
