question about my tranny fluid

I know that the mazda 5spd. that i have requires atf but mine has been rebuilt and put new bearings in it. So i checked the fluid and it was gear oil in it. so i called the guy who rebuilt it and he said that they put gear oil in it to break it in??? so do you guys think i should go back with atf and drain whats in it. or do you think the gear oil will be ok in it all the time? My tranny is hard to shift when cold from 1st to 2nd

I put synthetic mobil 1 trans fluid in mine, shifts good in cold now. don"t use gear oil.

if your tranny take a dump in the next couple months you know why. gear oil in a tranny that calls for ATF will destroy everything... get it out ASAP!
